“It's fair to say I know a lot more about technology [than Alex Paterson]. His area is DJing and the concepts behind The Orb. I'm not musical, but I played with some boring bands and when I got into the studio and saw all the flashing lights, that was that. You could say the first instrument I got into was the Atari.”
- Kris “Thrash” Weston / The Orb

Weston was only in his late teens when he joined The Orb. The groundbreaking British electronic music group was formed by the ex-Killing Joke roadie Alex Paterson and Jimmy Cauty, one-half of The KLF, who would end up quitting the band two years later.

While Weston would be a part of The Orb for only about five years, from circa 1990 to the end of 1995, his work can be heard in almost all of The Orb's greatest pieces. These include electronic music milestones The Orb's Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld (1991), U.F.Orb (1992), Pomme Fritz (1994) and Orbus Terrarum (1995).

Kris Weston used C-Lab's Creator / Notator for all of his MIDI mixes on the ST.

Weston is also one of the masterminds behind the classic The Orb tracks A Huge Ever Growing Brain That Rules from the Centre of the Ultraworld and Little Fluffy Clouds, which both showcased perfectly The Orb's signature sound that combines effortlessly ambient, house, dub and hip hop with a variety of sound effects, as well as loops from such composer maestros as Ennio Morricone and Steve Reich.
